TileStorm Evolution Authoring Guide
Create a map in TileStorm Evolution, test it in play mode, then publish it to the shared community catalogue when it is ready for others to try.
A published map keeps its identity even if you rename it later. Rename freely for presentation; updates replace the same shared map instead of creating duplicates.
Create and test a map
- Launch TileStorm Evolution and switch to Editor mode.
- Build the map layout, add start/end markers where required, and set the map name to something readable.
- Switch to Player mode and play through the map so obvious setup issues are caught before publishing.
- Save the database if you want a local recovery point before publishing.
Publish to the community catalogue
- Open Options in the game.
- Open Community to bring up the shared map catalogue.
- Select the local or currently loaded map you want to share.
- Press Publish or Publish Loaded.
- Wait for the upload to complete. GitHub Pages may take a short moment before the public portal shows the update.
Update an existing shared map
- Load the map in TileStorm Evolution.
- Make your changes and test the result.
- Publish again from the Community catalogue.
- The shared entry is updated in place, including its display name, package, timestamp, and preview image when available.
Import maps from the community
- From the web portal, click Open in TileStorm on a map to launch directly into it.
- From inside the game, open Options > Community.
- Use Import or Update Local to bring a shared map into your local catalogue.
- Use Import / Update All Remote when you want to sync every shared map currently listed.
Curating shared maps
During development, publisher/admin builds can remove shared maps from the Community catalogue. On the web portal, the Admin tools section can also remove entries when supplied with a suitable GitHub access token.
